The Architect, Infrastructure position is a key role in the Infrastructure Engineering team within IT Infrastructure. As the architect, this position heavily influences Infrastructure strategy and design which determines how systems will be implemented. Additionally, this role leads complex technical projects and support issues. This role will support COMPANY initiatives by collaborating across teams to provide innovative, efficient and secure Infrastructure solutions. This position will also act as a point-person on the Infrastructure Engineering team to ensure that applications and Infrastructure well integrated.
1 30% of Time: Recommend strategy and roadmap for Infrastructure Engineering functions to drive improvement for the delivery and execution of Infrastructure actives; determine gaps and identify creative, performant, secure and supportable solutions for COMPANY systems.
2 20% of Time: Lead solutioning for new Infrastructure and Application initiatives while considering implications across the broader environment.
3 20% of Time: Lead the ongoing Infrastructure administration and system management functions to ensure COMPANY systems and applications are operating optimally. Perform Infrastructure maintenance, upgrades and optimization as needed.
4 10% of Time: Recommend and decide the best solutions for Infrastructure administration processes and tools to ensure appropriate monitoring, visibility, controls and efficiency
5 20% of Time: Collaborate across the company to understand changing business needs and communicate upcoming database changes
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Extensive working knowledge of infrastructure systems including cloud, servers, virtualization, storage, networking and workstations.
Experience with cloud computing (AWS and Azure), VMware, Microsoft Windows Server, Cisco networking, storage technologies, automation / scripting, basic programming, security best practices
Education/Degree Requirements/Certifications (if applicable)
Bachelor's degree or higher
Experience (number of years) for people management jobs, indicate years required managing people
10+ years Infrastructure administration; 2 years as a lead Engineer
Strong written and verbal communications; attention to detail; strong organization skills; ability to manage multiple priorities well; calm under pressure; ability to support outside of normal business hours
