Job Description: Qualifications:

• The Applications Architect influences the development and implementation of technical strategy, initiatives, and governing policies. Conceives solutions, builds consensus, and sells and executes solutions across county departments. This position assists in defining the direction for projects and solution architecture.
• Leverages data, technical, and business knowledge to drive the development of technical frameworks and solutions at portfolio and enterprise levels. This position is involved throughout the project life cycle with emphasis on the initiation, feasibility, and analysis phases.
• Responsible for assisting the managers in assigning work flow to developers for projects to ensure deliverables are met.
• Develops business architecture that demonstrates a clear understanding of business object, process and information flow.
• Assists in developing technical architecture strategies in support of business strategies.
• Develops technical architecture frameworks (e.g. UI standards, Data interface standards, tool selection and standardization, reporting architecture, etc.) in support of the architecture strategies.
• Develops, monitors and communicates models, documents and migration plans for internal and external architectural decisions.
• Facilitates and contributes to the definition of architectures within each layer of the framework.
• Supports and consults with the systems manager, other architects, developers on issues of infrastructure development and department vision for tactical and strategic planning.
• Applies prevailing technologies and recommends new technologies, tools and methods in the architectural design process for the resolution of business and technical problems.
• Ensures integration of all aspects of technology solutions across functional areas through the use of design sessions and architectural reviews.
• Develops detailed plans in support of the architectural roadmap (e.g. technical design, deliverables, scalability, adaptability, etc.).
• Develops and communicates information to the business regarding the cost and time associated with using architecture alternatives in support of cost benefit analysis.
• Applies industry and internal best practices in solution of technical and business problems.
• Drives forums with the development team to review, improve and implement needed process, standards, and technology and environment changes.
• Ensures that quality procedures are in place and adhered to by participating in project walkthroughs and design sessions.
• Works collaboratively to achieve results.
• Completes assignments and tasks in agreed upon timelines
• Partners with the business to understand the business focus, assist in technology learning for the business, and suggest new/innovative ways to solve business problems.
• Escalates critical issues for appropriate/timely resolution as needed.
• Generates and champions new ideas and initiatives; goes beyond status quo; acts as a catalyst of change by presenting a persuasive case for changing processes and practices; is resourceful, creative and open-minded in developing solutions.
• Effectively communicates feedback and raises issues using tact and diplomacy.
• Work as a developer when necessary.



Education and Experience:

• College Degree in MIS, Computer Science or related field
• 5 years of experience in the latest .Net technologies
• 5 years of experience in SQL Server
• Microsoft Certifications preferred

• Languages: C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, Javascript, CSS
