Job Description: The System Administrator requires a working knowledge of network environments that encompass physical/ virtualized infrastructures, client/ server management functions and network equipment and operation.
He is responsible for creating/ deleting user accounts and managing user privileges.
Part of this position will be able to review and document logical recommendations to the customer on system capabilities and weaknesses.
This position will ensure operating systems adhere to EPA regulations and standards, and will manage updates and patching.
In addition, he must understand and implement security best practices, configure programs to monitor system events and logs, review and remediate system security vulnerabilities.
The System Administrator should have knowledge of different system/ network management tools.
Storage Area Network devices, high availability practices, backup and recovery, encryption, anti-virus, and planning/ implementing Contingency of Operations Planning (COOP) procedures.
The System Administrator should be able to quickly understand system administration tools and evolving technologies.
He will work with EPA technical staff to evaluate, test, and implement appropriate solutions and anticipate needs ensure that the appropriate technologies are available when required.
The System Administrator must possess effective demonstrable interpersonal skills for both written and verbal communication and create and maintain system documentation (schematics, technical guides, etc.).
The System Administrator will act as a backup for the Network Engineer.
The System Administrator must have a Bachelor’s degree with at least three (3) years of experience as a System Administrator, or five years of experience in performing tasks in functional area, three (3) years within the past four years.
Possess a thorough knowledge of current technological environments such as the Internet, virtualization, Client/ Server, Microsoft Operating System (OS) software, etc.
Must be able to incorporate improving technologies into the current network environment.
A minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in administering infrastructure support to mainframe and/or client server systems at the enterprise level.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience with Enterprise Data Services, experience administering Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012, 5+ years of experience with BixFix (IBM) tools and Windows Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) A minimum of five (5) years administering storage consolidation and backups A minimum of three (3) years of experience with Remedy and Citrix
PMI PMP certification Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate:
Windows Server 2012 At a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, or related field
