Job Description: The Desktop Support Specialist provides primary support face-to-face or remotely for PC and PC-related hardware/software issues enterprise-wide, ensuring all issues are logged into the Helpdesk system.

Responsibilities
Procures, installs, services, and provides lifecycle hardware/software support of all PCs for all locations within the corporation.
Involved in the installation and rollout of new software packages, upgrades and new hardware.
Work with other IT personnel to resolve system and network issues.
Liaise with, and provide training and support to, end users and staff on computer operation and other issues.
Where required, install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot associated end user workstation software and networking software products.
Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex PC problems for a variety of end users, and recommend and implement corrective hardware solutions, including off-site repair as needed.
Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding PC and/or hardware problems.
Monitor general network health and identify issues as they arise
Write technical specifications for purchase of PCs, networking hardware and related products.
Aid in the support of the following technologies; Video-conferencing, Telecommunications, AS/400, Servers, LANs and WANs.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or equivalent career experience in a manufacturing/distribution environment
5+ years of increasingly responsible experience in desktop computing support in a multi-site environment.
Working knowledge (MCSE certification preferred) of Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012 (Active Directory, WINS, DNS, RADIUS, Group Policy, DFS, WSUS).
Working knowledge (CCNA Preferred) of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and access points (QOS, VLAN, MPLS, OSPF, RIP, WPA, RADIUS, SNMP, TFTP).
Microsoft Windows 7/8/10 (Desktop Administration)
Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange
Working knowledge of server virtualization
Working knowledge of SharePoint Server
Working knowledge of Avaya IP telecommunication systems
Experience with Symantec Endpoint Protection, Symantec Ghost, Microsoft SQL Server
Experience with HP Servers (Proliant & Proliant Blade), SAN technology (Cisco, MDS, Emulex, HP EVA), VMware
Good communications skills are fundamental to this position.
Must be a self-starter, with the ability to effectively set individual goals to achieve departmental objectives.
Will often need to work independently with minimal supervision.
Some overtime and travel may be required.
