IR Tech helps the military prepare and support global operations with innovative software solution and technologies for which we provide worldwide information technology support, training, and software development. Be at the forefront of technology to support web-based transportation, field service and command and control applications to be used in tactical environments supporting our Marines. These systems have to operate in near real-time under combat conditions.

As a Systems Administrator you will be working at Springfield, VA providing technical support to the Linux Engineer for these state of the art computer systems supporting logistics operations, transportation and mission planning. You will support the following MLS2 systems; Common Logistics Command and Control System (CLC2S), Transportation Capacity Planning Tool (TCPT), with primary emphasis on Linux Operating System for TCPT and for the internal CLC2S environments. You will also provide consulting with our client, to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications as necessary, and may, on occasion be responsible for managing installation, configuration, and maintenance documentation for RedHat LINUX, Oracle DMBS 11g, and VM Ware (Workstation, Fusion, ESXi, and vCenter) systems.

You will also provide high level support to the Field Service Representatives (FSRs) and for internal, and special assignment projects as assigned. This support may include supporting technically junior staff, ensuring service level agreements are being met, providing advanced troubleshooting support, development of guides, procedures and tools for FSRs and supporting systems and technologies, recommending improvements and training for fill knowledge gaps, and other administrative duties as required.

Successful applicants will have 4+ years technical experience and be capable in RHEL Linux server systems administration, Oracle DBMS 11g installation/client side troubleshooting, MS Office software applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook), personal computer and server hardware maintenance. Experience with Windows operating systems 2008 and 2012 will be a plus. The ability to assemble, load, and integrate servers into client networks, then monitor and maintain them, is essential. The ability to write SQL/MS Access queries for an Oracle back-end database is highly desirable. A working knowledge of current Marine Corps logistics policies and procedures is a plus.

Specific tasks include the following:

1) Support Linux TCPT Servers for: Development environments, Production Server at MITSC-E, and future Production server at MCEITS.
2) Work with IA and System Administration Lead on applying IA remediation for TCPT. This includes downloading patches, writing install guides, and deploying the patches to all internal instances, and coordinating and supporting/assisting FSR’s for production servers.
3) Test IAVAs on TCPT and CLC2S systems to ensure that vendor patches do not negatively affect the supported systems. In addition, you will provide IAVA test reports to IA & CM and recommend either approval/denial of patches.
4) Serve as backup to the System Administration Lead for all internal systems and networks for the internal IR-Tech’s systems, e.g. JIRA, Confluence, etc., including deploying new internal collaboration systems
5) Support and monitor newly deployed backup system utilizing Acronis Enterprise
6) Build, Deploy, and Install new Virtual Systems via vCenter as requested by IA, Development, and FSR Leads
7) Perform server administration functions and technical maintenance on existing CLC2S and TCPT servers, maintain data feeds, and troubleshoot application problems that may be associated with the server.
8) Provide guidance to FSRs on the correct usage and setup of the system to best meet the operational requirements to include initial loading of the systems on servers, maintenance, and operation of the data feeds.
9) Provide Tier III technical support to troubleshoot system issues, documenting technical issues, administrative issues, confirming software bug issues that may arise with CLC2S and TCPT. This includes following the issue tracking processes within Jira and Confluence
10) Provide weekly oral and written status reports on all activities associated with support of the units in theater or at the request of the MLS2 Project Office.
11) Maintain hardware and software inventory.

There may be some travel required but less than 25% is expected.
