Four Ways That Compel Employers to Return Your Phone Calls

When it comes to picking the right IT jobs, it involves a lot of challenges for the jobseekers. More often than not, they will experience a tough time in drawing the attention of employers.

It’s natural for you to feel frustrated when you don’t receive any follow up calls from the employers after posting your resumes. You may get impatient in your attempt to gather information on your prospective employer or on interviews that you’ve just attended. You are not the only person out there.

It might take a while before you actually succeed in achieving a return call. This has been a fact with most jobseekers as the process of decision-making consumes more time than you think. It hurts you very often to wait that longer, especially when you’re trying to switch over to a new job or get out of work. The stakes are much higher, but you’ll succeed to getting a few return calls if you’re really proactive.

Four ways that compel employers to return calls are as follows:

1. Don't expect employers to return calls

Following up with your prospective employers is of great importance. It’s natural for employers to get occupied and forget returning back to you once you are sidetracked for other projects. You must understand that the employers aren’t avoiding you; rather they have set priorities and need more time to get back to you. If you really want a positive outcome, you’ll need to continue following up. It’s of no use if you can’t make a single call and think the prospective employer will call you if he’s really interested. You’ll need to be really persistent. This way you’ll have more chances of getting what you actually need.

2.  Follow-up calls to be scheduled after every meeting

Schedule your next telephonic conversation or meeting after concluding one. It will be of much help while following up as you won’t prove being pushy, instead you’ll only feel like fulfilling your next commitment.

3.  Schedule a call or meeting as per the convenience of the other party

It is a good way of avoiding that “I’ll get in touch with you.” Words like these keep you waiting for long. While you’re waiting for the return call, you’re actually trying to find a clue on where you went wrong. There’s no point in wasting your time and energy. The employer should know that you’ll be calling them once more.

4.  Call them if they don’t give you any commitment  

Call them once three days have passed after your last conversation. Till the time your call is returned, you may consider calling them once every week. It’s actually very effective although some of you may feel it to be a bit funny. You’ll need to sound as effective and confident on your 16th call as you sounded on the very first call. Chances are less likely that your call will be returned if your anger is reflected over your voice messages.

You don’t need to be pushy in knowing whether you still stand a chance to get hired by your chosen employer. It’s up to them to determine whether they should get back to you or not. Chances are more that they will return your call only when you follow them up. Again, you must stop calling if any of them don’t like it. Some of them might be thankful for following up as they often tend to be busy with their regular tasks. Under all circumstances, you’ll find yourself in a win-win situation.
