Google Chairman wants the Government to Increase the Number of H-1B Visas

Eric Schmidt, the executive Chairman of Google requested the Congress to increase the number of the highly-skilled work visas which are made available to the foreigners for working in the U.S. He was speaking at the American Enterprise Institute and said that United States will do much better by letting in more immigrants and not less. Especially people with exceptional technical skills should be encouraged to come to the country. Increasing the number of H-1B visas is the most important policy change that he would like to see the federal government make in the near future.
He added that this particular visa category helps talented technical people come into the country and later in their careers they set up their own businesses and provide employment to the IT workers in their enterprises
Senator Orrin Hatch sponsored bills aim to extend the number of H-1B visas from 65,000 to something between 115,000-195,000 and this increase will depend upon the market situation and demand.
Schmidt thinks that most of the lawmakers actually agree with the policy of increasing the number of the H-1B visas and so various other aspects of the immigration policy should be tackled separately.
